Meeting2006July
From LUGOP
This was one of the best meetings of the Linux User Group of Peoria that I have ever attended. Turnout was really high, compared to the usual, and we even had some first timers! Thanks again to everyone who came, it was a good time. The high points:
- We started off by everyone introducing themselves, you know, just to get the "How's your mother?" out of the way.
- Continued Superfest discussion. A new page on the wiki has been started for this event. Surprisingly, it is entitled "Superfest."
- Roy spoke about the possibilities of a Installfest taking place at a new computer shop in Pekin and there was quite a bit of support for the idea.
- We passed out some books from Oreilly and spoke about their programs and support for user groups.
- The highlight of the night was a group interview with Akkana Peck , Linux Chic and author of the book "Beginning GIMP: From Novice to Professional." You can read a review of the book and partial irc log here.
- Had a great time!
