Tor is the second generation onion routing network that is designed to anonymizes TCP connections. The onion router network relies on volunteers to provide bandwidth to help maintain tor's usefulness. A box can easily be configured to operate as a standard tor client for anonymous web browsing during regular hours of use and as a tor server to donate bandwidth and/or operate as a geographicaly anonymous web service when the connection isn't being utilized.
